This piece was dedicated to the Crane School of Music Tuba & Euphonium Ensemble for their performance at NERTEC 2026 at Boston University, where it received its world premiere. The Battle of Teutoburg Forest tells the story of one greatest disasters of the Roman Empire’s military. In the year nine AD, three legions marched to a site of “minor unrest”. Arminius, raised Roman, set an ambush for the legions. The unforgiving terrain and relentless guerrilla-like attacks left the Roman army in shambles. This would end Rome’s ability to ever expand east past the Rhine, forever changing history.
